One RINO thought he could “neutralize” Trump, but he was proven badly wrong.
He tried to seize power so that he could block Trump’s agenda.
But Trump dropped the hammer on him and ruined his career.
After Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the speakership, there was chaos as Republicans lined up to take his place, and then got defeated one by one.
Steve Scalise was the first one, but not enough conservative members of the caucus were willing to support him.
After that was Jim Jordan, who had the support of the conservative wing of the caucus but lost just enough RINO votes to defeat him on the floor.
Tom Emmer was the next RINO candidate to be nominated by the caucus, and he was very confident that he could “neutralize” Trump.
After all, he was a career politician who had spent years trying to rise to power, and he thought this was his opportunity.
But he got a big surprise when Trump smacked him down.
And after losing Trump’s endorsement, his entire bid to be speaker of the House went up in flames, and he hung his head in embarrassment.
According to Politico, “Just when the congressman thought he had neutralized Trump, the former president lowered the boom.
“Just hours after Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) won the Republican Conference’s nomination to be House speaker on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to deride the congressman as ‘totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters’ and a ‘Globalist RINO.’
“He then got on the phone with members to express his aversion for Emmer and his bid for speaker.”
As soon as he did that, Emmer was finished.
After all, most members of the House are terrified of Trump. They know that he can end their careers, and so they do what they can to please him.
Once he told them not to vote for Emmer, they did what they were told.
The article continues, “By Tuesday afternoon Trump called one person close to him with the message, ‘He’s done. It’s over. I killed him.’
“Just minutes later, Emmer officially dropped out of the race.
“His withdrawal made Emmer the third nominee for speaker to have his hopes dashed for the most cursed job in politics. And it showed that while Trump may not be able to elevate someone to the post — his earlier choice for the job, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), also flopped — he can very well ensure that a person doesn’t get it.”
Ultimately, Mike Johnson from Louisiana was chosen as the speaker, with Trump’s blessing.
And Trump was thrilled that his hated enemy, Tom Emmer of Minnesota, did not end up as speaker of the House.
The House of Representatives did not need another globalist RINO in charge, and they thankfully avoided that by shooting down Tom Emmer’s candidacy for the speakership.
And Donald Trump played a huge role in that by exposing the truth about Tom Emmer and calling his allies in Congress to make sure they voted against him.
