Donald Trump isn’t just running for president.
Trump’s freedom is also at stake.
And Fani Willis made one promise that Donald Trump hopes she never keeps.
Elected Democrat Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed a legally frivolous but constitutionally dangerous racketeering indictment against Donald Trump and 18 other co-defendants for contesting the results of the 2020 election.
Willis’s indictment effectively criminalized the practice of law, political speech, asking for recounts and challenging the results of an election if the prosecutor is from the opposite political party.
District Attorney Willis already secured guilty pleas on minor charges that resulted in no jail time from three of Trump’s lawyers and one supporter.
What stood out in the guilty pleas is Willis didn’t force any of the defendants to admit to the underlying conspiracy to overturn the results of the election that Willis claimed existed.
That stood out as a blinking red light that even Willis knew her case was garbage.
But in emails to Trump’s lawyers Willis played hard ball declaring that there is a “long road ahead” in this trial.
Willis also promised to throw Trump and unnamed co-defendants behind bars.
“Long after these folks are in jail, we will still be practicing law,” Willis continued.
Willis is already facing slam-dunk accusations of political bias.
The Fulton County district attorney requested a trial start date in early August 2024.
Willis told Judge Scott McAfee that the trial would last for months meaning Trump would be stuck in a courtroom through Election Day and unable to campaign.
Trump’s lawyer Steven Sadow argued this amounted to an admission of the most massive election interference campaign in American history.
“Can you imagine the notion of the Republican nominee for president not being able to campaign for the presidency because he is, in some form or fashion, in a courtroom defending himself?” Sadow declared.
“That would be the most-effective election interference in the history of the United States,” Sadow continued.
Willis’s email threat to jail Trump until the end of his days and to start the trial in the heart of the campaign season are clear indicators this isn’t a legitimate legal proceeding but instead a partisan kangaroo court operating for the benefit of Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.
This weaponization of the government isn’t helping Democrats.
On the contrary, it’s only strengthening Trump in the GOP primary and general election voters are tuning out what they can tell are obviously partisan shams to set up the election as a referendum on Joe Biden’s runaway inflation, open borders, and the fact that Joe Biden is asking to stay on as president until he turns 86 years old.
