Trump made a brilliant move after Wall Street tried to destroy him.
He put them on their heels and forced them to surrender.
Now Wall Street finally recognizes who is the boss.
Many people in the Republican establishment wanted Trump gone in 2024. But their approach to defeating him was completely unrealistic.
Most of them lined up behind Nikki Haley, a milquetoast establishment candidate who never stood a chance of beating Trump.
They did this because they are out of touch. Everyone in their social circles liked Nikki Haley, and so they assumed the rest of America did too.
But in reality, most Americans are tired of what Nikki Haley stands for – corporatist economics and interventionist foreign policy. And that’s why she has had such a difficult time rallying support.
Now, Wall Street and the GOP establishment are finally coming to terms with reality. They have seen the polls and they know they can’t beat Trump.
And after he secured support from Ron DeSantis, who recently dropped out of the race, Trump has backed Wall Street into a corner and forced them to stop opposing his candidacy.
According to CNBC, “As Donald Trump surges toward the Republican nomination, many Wall Street executives have made a calculated decision not to speak out against him, and in some cases they will consider supporting the Republican former president over Democratic President Joe Biden, according to more than a dozen people familiar with the matter.”
Here is what one executive at a private equity firm told CNBC: “A lot of people on Wall Street have been living in this pipe dream of Trump not getting the nomination. People were in the first stage of [grief], denial. Now they’re trying to get their heads around the fact that Trump could be the nominee.”
If they really wanted to stop Trump from getting the nomination, they should have picked someone other than Nikki Haley, who is a throwback to the old days of Bush-Cheney Republicans.
The article continues, “This view reflects one shared by large portions of Wall Street, who are scrambling to come to grips with the idea that Trump is the likely GOP nominee for president and he could beat Biden in November. A Real Clear Politics polling average Sunday had Trump leading Biden nationwide by about 2 points in a general election.”
This shows just how thoroughly Trump has destroyed the Republican establishment, who once had a death-grip on the party’s nominating process.
After they tanked the party’s chances for two elections in a row by essentially forcing the nominations of John McCain and Mitt Romney, the voters decided to embrace Donald Trump.
Since then, the establishment has tried to pry their influence back, but it has been a failure.
Now it seems that the oligarchs on Wall Street who are part of the establishment have given up their dreams of defeating Trump.
And they have decided to embrace the inevitability that he is going to be the nominee and they will have to get behind him.
