Jack Smith tried to pull a fast one on Trump, and he got burned.
The prosecutor thought he could catch Trump asleep at the wheel.
But Trump was paying attention and put Jack Smith in his place before he could even blink.
Special counsel Jack Smith is one of the key figures trying to put Donald Trump in jail in an attempt to hand Joe Biden the 2024 election with no competition.
Democrats have rested their hopes on Smith being able to successfully imprison their biggest rival in the upcoming presidential race.
Smith thought he had a brilliant strategy to pull a fast one on Trump, bypassing the appeals court and getting the Supreme Court to rule against Trump on presidential immunity.
He is trying to rush the process along to put Trump on his heels and make sure the case gets decided before the election.
But fortunately for Trump, he was paying attention, and he was ready for Smith’s sneaky strategy.
And he responded so forcefully to put Jack Smith in his place that it sent a message to the entire prosecution team not to mess with him.
According to Newsweek, “Donald Trump has lashed out at special counsel Jack Smith after he bypassed the usual channels and directly asked the Supreme Court to rule on whether the former president can cite immunity in the 2020 election case.
“In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Smith of ‘election interference’ after the special counsel went straight to the country’s highest court, leapfrogging the federal appeals court, to decide if the former president can claim he is absolutely immune from federal prosecution over alleged criminal attempts to overturn the last election results as his actions took place while in office.”
Here is what Trump had to say on Truth Social: “So Deranged Jack Smith, the Biden appointed ‘nut job’ prosecutor with a big record of loses because he goes too far, wants to RUSH, RUSH, RUSH to the Supreme Court on the important matter of Presidential Immunity, something which is so basic to America that it should be automatic.”
Smith thinks he can use Trump’s Supreme Court, which has three justices that he appointed, against him. But it is unlikely to work.
The article continues, “In his court filings, Smith said it is of ‘imperative public importance’ that SCOTUS rules on the immunity defense promptly, as the federal trial is set to begin in March 2024. The timing of the federal election trial, where Trump has pleaded not guilty to four charges, is also crucial for the former president.”
Jack Smith knows that his case is in big trouble, and that’s why he is swinging for the fences and going directly to the Supreme Court.
But if the Supreme Court rules against him and sides with Trump, the Democrats will be backed into a corner they cannot escape.
The attempt to imprison Trump is going very badly and the result could be disastrous for the Democrats who tried this scheme.
