Donald Trump sent a clear message about what happens if you betray him.
And all of his friends and allies heard him loud and clear.
Now Trump’s former friend is regretting the decision to turn on him.
Sidney Powell is a conservative lawyer who handled a number of election lawsuits in 2020, along with Rudy Giuliani, Lin Wood, and others.
She challenged the results of the election and allied herself with Trump, speaking at a number of his rallies.
Before this, she had a long career as a conservative lawyer, which is how she got connected to Trump.
She filed a number of election lawsuits in various swing states and became a prominent and controversial figure during this time period, though she ultimately failed to return him to the presidency.
Recently, she was arrested alongside Trump and dozens of other people in the Fani Willis case in Georgia, alleging that she was part of a “RICO” scheme.
Trump almost certainly thought Sidney Powell would never betray him. But it turns out that in politics, the people who you thought were allies aren’t always trustworthy.
Now it appears that Sidney Powell has betrayed Trump and handed him over to the prosecutors.
According to ABC News, “Sidney Powell, one of 18 co-defendants in former President Donald Trump’s election interference case in Georgia, has taken a plea deal in which she has agreed to testify in the case.
“She is pleading guilty to six misdemeanor charges, according to the agreement read in court Thursday. She will get 12 months of probation for each count as well as a $6,000 fine.
“As part of the agreement, Powell must ‘testify truthfully about any co-defendants’ involved in the case and ‘provide all documents to the district attorney’s office’ relevant to their case against the other co-defendants, according to Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee.”
According to National Review legal columnist Andrew McCarthy, Trump doesn’t need to worry about her testimony. After all, Powell didn’t even admit to a felony in her plea deal.
McCarthy said, “Here, to the contrary, Willis is not only abandoning the RICO charge; she’s not even getting felony guilty pleas of any kind.”
But Trump isn’t taking this lying down. He continues to fight back.
Democrats may have expected him to abandon his campaign, but according to The Hill, “Former President Trump will hold a rally in Florida on the night of the third Republican presidential primary debate next month, his campaign announced Friday.”
Democrats are panicked about the idea of Trump retaking the presidency, and what might happen to them afterwards.
That’s why they are trying to put him in jail before it comes to that.
They thought getting Sidney Powell to flip would be their ticket to a successful prosecution of Trump in Georgia, but it seems like they may have gotten too far ahead of themselves.
Now a message has been sent to everyone who was considering betraying Trump that he will always come out on top no matter what.
